Opening Times and Menu

Depending on where the Mcdonalds resturant is located, the opening times are different and so are the menus. I'm going to focus on the McDonalds resturant in Nutgrove, Dublin, Ireland. Their opening times for Nutgrove on Monday - Wednesday: 7am - midnight, Thursday: 7am - 5am, Friday - Sunday: 24 hours. They used to be open 24 hours, 7 days a week until they realised that there wasn't much business after midnight from Monday till Thursday. They then changed the time to having it only 24 hours from Friday till Sunday. McDonalds don't serve their usual chips, hamburger and chicken nuggets between the times 7am and 10:30am, between those time they serve a breakfast menu. You cannot order anything that is on the afternoon/evening menu. The breakfast menu has a wide variety on it, they have an item on the menu called "McMuffin" there is four type of McMuffins you can get, egg, bacon, sausage or both in a soft pann, you can also get a sausage roll, different kinds of pancakes, hash browns, quick oats, tea, coffee and orange juice. From 10:30 onward they serve hamburger, chicken nuggets, chips, fizzy drink and desserts. McDonalds won't allow you to order from the breakfast menu after 10:30 no matter what and before 10:30 won't allow you to order of the afternoon/evening menu. It's very strict.

McDonalds Cost and Earnings

McDonalds earns a lot of money, millions of people go to McDonalds every day. They go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Averagely today McDonalds is worth around 427 million. Each day they spend averagely 720 million and gain 2.4 billon. Meals in McDonalds are cheap and there are many different deals. Each adult medium meal ranges 6.50 - 7.50 and includes drink and chips, for an extra 50c you can make the drink and chips large. Kids meals 3.50 which includes a small chips, small drink, either chicken nuggets, hamburger or fish sticks and a toy, other countries do different deals for happy meals depending on the country, that deal is for Ireland. In July McDonalds realised they didn't hit the expectations they wanted to earn this year, in Asia, Middle East, Pacific and African region, sales went down by 0.3% and in the U.S they went up by 1.0% after July. To buy a McDonalds franchise you would roughly need between 1 - 6 million depending on where you are planning on buying a franchise, also McDonalds are very picky about who they allow to buy a franchise.

What is really in the McDonald's products?

There are many different items on the McDonald's menu, from hamburgers, to sides, to ice-creams and cakes, I am going to pick one item and talk about what the corporation actually decides what to put into the food that you pay for to put in your body. Some of the ingredients may shock others while others may brush it off and continue eating the McDonalds 'food'. I'm going to talk about the 'classic' hamburger, the first main product of McDonalds. McDonalds say that there hamburger meat is 100% beef, when they say that, they are correct, they do use 100% beef but that means that they can use any part of the cow, its all-beef but only certain parts are the good parts. Recently it’s been said that some of the restaurants have stopped using the 'pink slime' in their beef. Most of the cows are feed using CAFO, Concentration Agricultural Feeding Operation, which is very bad for the cows, it makes them sick, meaning it could possible make you sick, and I bet you didn’t know that. In the bun of the hamburger there is ALOT of ingredients, just for one simple bun? There is about 20-30 ingredients in the bun but I will just give you a rough idea of what is put in. For start the wheat flour is BLEACHED which is unnecessary, ammonium chloride which is also used in fireworks, ammonium sulphate which is used commonly as an artificial fertilizer for alkaline soil and another ingredient is fructose corn syrup, which doesn’t have anything natural in it, it’s all processed. If so far this hasn’t turned you off having you your next McDonalds hamburger, I'm not too sure what will. Credit to First Last youtube channel.

How McDonalds started

On May the 15th, 1940, McDonalds was founded by Richard and Maurice McDonald, also known more famously as Dick and Mac who were from San Bernardino, California. They got the idea of having a restaurant because their father, Patrick McDonald owned a hamburger stand. They started off by making a restaurant called "McDonalds Bar-B-Q and it served 25 items that were barbequed on their menu. After 8 years of having the restaurant, the McDonalds brothers realised that all their profit was mainly coming from the hamburgers, so they decided to close down the restaurant and start a new restaurant that sold hamburgers, French fries, cheeseburgers, milkshakes, apple pie and different soft drinks. They opened the restaurant in December 1948 and called in "McDonalds".

Introduction

Hey there, My name is Lauren and and I'm a student from Wesley College. I am doing a blog in my enviromental studies class about McDonalds. I am going to research how the different products are made and what ingredients are put into the products and other areas of Mcdonalds. I chose to do this because I'am interested in what is actually in all the food McDonalds produce and how they make it all, also I think it would change peoples opinion on having fast food and show them that it is not what the companys tell you it is.
